Nails
The tough, flat structures on the dorsal surface of digits.  Made from a hard protein, keratin.
Nails is frequently used to refer to claws of dogs. They are usually relatively blunt and non-protractile, and therefore usually register in tracks.
Also known as claws and toenails.
