Stride
1.       The period of a gait from the initial ground contact of a limb to next ground contact of the same limb. At the completion of a stride, each limb has returned to the position it was at the start of the stride.
This is also known as the gait cycle.
2.       The distance covered in a cycle of movement of limbs, from the initial contact with the ground of a limb to the next point of contact of the same limb. Measured at parallel to the central line.
3.       Similarly, stride is also the distance from the one track of a foot to the next track of the same foot.
This is conventionally measured from the proximal edge of the first track to the proximal edge of the next track of the same foot, and parallel to the central line.                                                Cf. straddle
