Ungual Phalanges
The distal bones of the digits. These articulate with the intermediate phalanges.
These are called ungual bones because they contain a nail or claw. (Ungual meaning something that relates to a nail, claw or hoof).
Also known as distal phalanges, terminal phalanges, and claw bones.
