Poodles

Breed Standard

A written standard that lists the attributes that are desirable in a breed of cat or dog created by breed associations and clubs, and standardised and approved by governing bodies.

This provides a blueprint for breeders and judges of conformation shows.

Fault

A characteristic of a pet which deviates from the breed standard.

Breed standards specify characteristics that are undesirable, some of these being disqualifying faults.

In conformation shows, departures from breed standards are penalized by judges with a loss of points.
